My Books

I've been writing stories since I was twelve, and I've yet to convince my characters to respect office hours.

Four books, dozens of short stories, and an Emerging Author of the Year Award (2014), a Golden Crown Literary Award (2015) and a Finalist for a Lambda Literary Award (2016) later, I'm still fascinated by the messy, contradictory business of being human. My writing explores the truths that emerge when love and loss, loyalty and regret, hope and fear collide.

Life has a way of pulling levers and changing train tracks. That happened to me in 2017 and while I still had books I yearned to write, my life needed to pursue a different track, typically called a Day Job with a Salary and Health Insurance! 

The desire to create with words, however, has never left me. These days, my stories arrive singing, and I am pursuing the craft of making music and doing my best to bring the same level of respect for the story to my songs. 

The process is surprisingly similar, though I have swapped pots of black coffee for cups of throat coat tea! Just like my books, Caught in the Crossfire, Searching for Grace, Taking the Stand, and Gravity, my songs strive to tell the tale of people who ask difficult questions while doing their best to live authentically beside pain and loss.
